What is a sprout?

I could have sworn I'd read a passage in one of the books - although possibly it was a fanfic - where Harry & Ron were peeling them, and were upset that Fred & George (who were old enough by then to use magic) weren't helping ... and the way it read, I assumed they were referring to potatoes. Someone has told me today that sprouts are not potatoes.

Can someone enlighten me?

Call For Papers-Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Book collection of Academic writings

In the fall of 1988, on a small public access channel, KTMA, in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area of Minnesota, a bizarre show appeared. It featured two hand-made, robot appearing puppets and a man who was watching a movie and making comments to the screen. Little did its creator, Joel Hodgson, know that he had created a world-wide, popular culture phenomenon known as Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST). The show lasted ten seasons, and spawned a theatrical feature film. Twenty years later, the show still has fans the world over. The show has received a coveted Peabody Award for excellence, and was nominated for an Emmy Watching episodes of the show today, one still has to scratch his/her head and wonder how such a show could ever last one season, much least ten. However, when one delves deeper into the show, one discovers that it is one of the funniest, cleverest programs this side of Monty Python. Comedy scripts are arguably the hardest type of material to write and be consistently good. But the team that wrote MST, along with head writer Mike Nelson, created something that has lasted and is even more popular ten years after its cancellation.
I am putting together a book that looks at MST and its cultural implication, the Internet, and the creation of similar shows (Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic) which were created and are written by former MST people, who have kept the spirit of MST alive.

My ovary hurts. This is not a fun feeling. But then I'm not expecting it to be fun so I guess I'd just better suck it up now. In other news I may have one of the Fed gigs. They just asked me about availability to start if hired (I interviewed for this one so long ago I actually forgot about it) so I have my fingers crossed. In some ways it would suck ([info]snmnstrz21 it's out by you) but the pay is high enough that I could get over the travel issues. Now to be a big girl and do something productive.

1. Today is World AIDS Day.

2. I'm still doing DVD commentaries on mah fic. If, you know, you're into that.

3. I was so busy being angsty about my health yesterday I forgot to mention I got contacted for TWO job interviews, within about an hour of each other! Panda Express and Steak 'n' Shake, but still--monies! (And the Steak 'n' Shake job might come with insurance!)

Why did I trust him?

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'll find my dresses in one of the boxes, buried under some books.

I should never have listened to WG.

I was supposed to go to Seattle September 9th. I had the tickets and it was all set. We were going to go through all our things together and split them up. Take things to Goodwill. I was going to help him move. I was going to take him to his oral surgery appointment. I was going to put together furniture for him in his new apartment. I was going to spend some time with Monte kitty to say goodbye.

He called me and asked me not to come. He'd send me my things.

Why did I trust him?

Tuesday's Tips for Flailing Writers

The title says it best: Why Writing Rubbish is Productive

By Proxy - Prologue

I actually wrote a few stories in the past, they all abandoned half way. This time, I really really want to keep this one up. Feel free to tell me what you think about it, I consider it a gift. Sorry if I made any grammer mistake, for English is not my native language.

Title: By Proxy
Author: jedhoover
Genre: Fantasy / Humor (?)
Chapter : 1/?
Disclaimer: Some cursing. Maybe portraying God in a bad way?
Summary: An angel in the ordinary human world works as a Proxy, to do what his clients asks him to do.
Author's note: This thought just came up from nowhere. Guess I should write it down and perhaps, it will become a good story. I don't know.

Stuff

*Finished Nano. Not as exhilarating as I expected it would be. Prolly cause I have months of editing to do before I let anyone near it and THAT just might be more daunting than writing it. Is there a NaNoEDMo?

*Job sucks. Still. We're killing ourselves daily to up "production" but they keep cutting our hours. Oh well, makes more time for next point...

*Have a new TV show addiction. Thanks Australia, for yet another drama I simply can't do without. First it was Rush (and it's oh so hot Sr. Sgt. Joshua, Callan Mulvey *sigh*) now it's Sea Patrol (and some serious crushin' on Jay Ryan's "Spider"). Gah. Like I need another fandom. (Is there a fandom? I hope so. Boys--and a couple of girls--serving on a Navy patrol vessel. Many of them quite attractive. The fic, it practically writes itself.) Any other suggestions for Aussie Must See TV?

*Oh, and GIP!!!!!! *Licks Neal*

Colt McCoy and Holiday Wishlists (the two are only slightly related. . .)

I made a new default icon and header. I couldn't help it after I found those pictures. He's way too good looking. : )

the small print about wishlists )

1. Donate to Feeding America or your local food bank. 1 in 8 Americans including working adults, children and seniors who can't make ends meet struggle with hunger issues. Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, New Mexico, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Maine, and North Carolina all have food insecurity rates higher than the national average. I've been hungry before, but I can't imagine living through this kind of hardship for regular periods.

2. University t-shirts! I ask every year, but I love college t-shirts. I never want to grow up. I wear a size L and I don't mind an old shirt at all as long as there aren't any stains. : ) I don't wear red though.

3. Texas to win a National Championship! And Colt and Jordan to jump all over each other. There could be kissing involved.

4. Rec me some cool people on LJ. Who is on your flist that makes you smile or think? I wanna know! I'd like SPN people as well as generally awesome folks. My contribution is [info]or_mabinogi who is an awesome, awesome geek and links to all sorts of fun stuff.

5. PS2 games. I especially enjoy mysteries, fantasy, horror, first person shooters, and rpgs.

6. A Dean Winchester calendar -> could be physical, but I'd be just as happy with desktop calendars to rotate through the year.

7. Cards/Letters would be awesome. I just moved and the mailbox is lonely. Fandom or nonfandom are both a-ok.

8. Bracelets! Old, new, handmade or whatever. I have small wrists.

9. A Supernatural Slash Anthology, Vol. I & II <- stolen from [info]kashmir1's list.

10. Make a post to share all the reasons you love Supernatural, Sam/Dean, or Jensen/Jared and link me to it.

11. For all of you to have a wonderful December/New Year season that's stress free and full of fun!
